Dengan memadukan faktor bentuk yang sudah dikenal dengan set fitur yang tinggi, X-T20 dari Fujifilm adalah kamera tanpa cermin ramping yang dirancang untuk penembak multimedia. Dengan memanfaatkan sensor APS-C X-Trans CMOS III 24.3MP dan prosesor gambar X-Processor Pro, stills resolusi tinggi dapat direkam dengan ketajaman dan kejelasan yang mencolok karena tata letak organik sensor dan penghilangan filter low-pass optik. Kombinasi sensor dan prosesor juga memanfaatkan rentang sensitivitas yang diperluas ke ISO 51200, tingkat pemotretan 14 fps yang terus menerus saat bekerja dengan rana elektronik, dan kemampuan untuk merekam video UHD 4K atau Full HD 1080p. Saat bekerja dengan subjek yang bergerak, kinerja autofocus yang berkesinambungan telah dioptimalkan untuk pelacakan subjek yang lebih baik dan akurasi keseluruhan, dan mode Auto SR Lanjutan juga dapat digunakan untuk pengambilan gambar otomatis sepenuhnya dengan pengenalan adegan cerdas. Selain itu, desain bodi kamera retro yang menggabungkan layar sentuh touchscreen 3.0 "1.04m-dot serta jendela bidik elektronik 2.36m-dot, dan dial fisik tersedia untuk menyesuaikan pengaturan eksposur dan pengambilan gambar dengan cepat dan intuitif.
